IFDC Lenguas Vivas offers distance teacher development courses for qualified teachers and trainee teachers.
We firmly believe that distance education, especially in remote regions such as Patagonia, is what the future has in store for us.

We have been carrying out a Teacher Development Program for practising teachers of English in the province of Rio Negro (Patagonia).
The program started in 2001, when teachers from different areas in Patagonia came to the capital city in order to go through the process of accreditation of prior linguistic knowledge and teaching experience.
This process served to determine their level of language ability and their teaching strategies, and then they were ready to start the Teacher Development Program, with a duration of four years (2001- 2004).
The technological support for the Program has consisted of: satellite television, video lessons and printed materials, all dealing with teaching and method concepts, approaches and teaching strategies related to English language teaching. The work of the teacher trainers is complemented by tutors who specialize in distance education techniques.
The results, so far, have been more than satisfactory.
This Program has been sponsored by the Ministry of Education of Argentina and the Council of Education of Rio Negro (Patagonia), Argentina.
